Quick Tour of my Apartment!

My sister wanted pictures of snow, so I thought I’d give you a quick little tour of my apartment. 🙂

I have two huge windows right by my bed that bring wonderful light in my room.

My guy friend got this Pooh Bear for me before I left. 🙂

This is my desk. I usually do my school work here, or I go to the upper lounge in the apartment complex where there have couches and a piano (which I love using!).

I also actually have a little “secret hideout” under my bed (since it’s not a bottom or top bunk – it’s at the same height as my desk is) which I absolutely love. My dad got me these two white storage containers where I can have a little “food storage” under my bed. I love how I have I little getaway right under my bed!

The bathroom I get to share with 3 other girls – Since I get up before any of my roommates (when I come back from my first class they’re just starting to get up), it all works out.

My living room. 🙂

My roommates had a campout late one night in our living room (I was fast asleep long before they made this). It gave me a smile when I woke up that next morning. Haha — even college students are still young inside. 😉

My kitchen!

It’s a pretty good-sized kitchen. (I’m not very picky when it comes to these things though. As long as it has the essentials I’m happy.)

There is one appliance of mine that I particularly adore:

My trio-slow cooker!!!! I absolutely LOVE it! I use it multiple times a week and it saves me so much time!

This is the view from my door. The snow has started to melt and it’s starting to get warm – for a while I had my doubts because of the negative numbers the weather was bringing.

Thankfully I’m starting to see some grass. (I’ll take some pictures when I get the chance!)

This morning I just signed up for my next classes this next semester: Anatomy and Physiology, Developing World, Biostatistics, Nutrition in the Life Cycle, and Religion. I’m really enjoying my classes right now. I love my teachers and I’m so grateful for the chance I have to be here and to build upon the knowledge I have and learn how to share and inspire others. Other than school, I’m also having a lot of fun dancing at Zumba, stretching at Yoga, circuit training with my personal trainer on the weekends, practicing the piano a few hours a week, reading my scriptures daily, listening to music to relax, and laughing and having a good time with my friends and roommates when I want to have some fun.

Nonetheless, I am having a little hard time staying asleep at night. I don’t know why. I seem to wake up a lot during the night, and I don’t know if it has to do with stress or not. I’m thinking it is though… I’m also not having my TOM anymore, but with the stress that comes with college I’m not that surprised – it’s actually a relief as I don’t have to worry about it…

I just went shopping today, so I’ll share some of the fun with you soon! (Along with some recent eats, a couple recipes, and a special post I hope to have up within the next week or so.)

With lots of hugs,

Kathleen

    1. Hey Ally! 🙂 Thanks — I love the little “food storage” area under my bed too. It is so handy! It’ll be different this next semester as I’ll be in a different room/bed, but I’ll figure out how to make it work.

  1. Wow. It’s so BIG. Lol. Love basically everything about your apartment from the bedroom to the food storage to the kitchen… Okay, maybe I like the kitchen best. And the crock pots. Got to love the crock pots 😉

I’m signing up for my classes next week. Nutrition in the Life Cycle sounds really interesting.

Sorry to hear that you’re not getting TOM anymore. I know that’s something that you’ve struggled in the past with, and I think that it will all work out. I’ve had mine two or three times in the last 7 months of school and while that’s not ideal, I guess it’s just how my body wants to work right now. But I think stress may definitely have to do with it, as I didn’t have one until November, 3 months after school started. Hopefully you’ll adjust.

Excited to see what you buy on your shopping trip and what you have planned for your “special” post! 🙂

    1. Hey Madison! 🙂 Haha — the apartment it’s that huge, but it works for the 4 of us girls. And really, I’m not that picky — I never am. I don’t have any problem with any of the girls in my apartment or the apartments around us. But apparently there’s a lot of roommate drama and other girl drama infiltrated here….. :\ Oh well.I guess that’s not a bad thing — at least it means I’m not a part of any….

Yeah, I’m really bummed about my TOM also. I know I’m experiencing a lot of stress right now, and I think it’s the thing affecting both my sleep and menstrual cycle. But that also means I have to be extra diligent in making sure I’m taking care of my body the best I can so it can heal and have the energy to grow stronger. In my Personal Health and Fitness class we just learned about Stress and ways to manage it — I’ll probably do a post on that because I learned so much. I’ve also done a few things to help me sleep a little better, so I want to share that along with some strategies I’ve found up here to make eating healthy easier and cheaper. 🙂

    1. Thanks, Kristi! 🙂 I had never seen one of them before either until I saw it in a Sunday paper ad — I HAD to get it! I love how I can make multiple smaller batches of things. Each one of the slow cookers is 2.5 quarts, so I can make batches of steel-cut oats, quinoa, and brown rice all at the same time — and it only takes about 3-4 hours on high! I can turn it on in the morning, go to my classes, and come back to them all done! I can do the same things with beans — make different batches of lentils, black beans, chickpeas, red beans, kidney beans, etc. Definitely makes my life easier.

  2. Your room looks fantastic!! That Pooh bear is adorable; that was sweet of your friend to get it for you. I am so glad you are enjoying your classes and professors; that is always important! I took Anatomy and Physiology last semester at my community college, and absolutely loved it. It was so fascinating to learn about all the complex processes in the human body. I am sorry that you aren’t sleeping well; maybe it does have to do with stress and adjusting to a new schedule. I hope you are able to sleep better soon!

    1. Thanks for all of your support, Kendra! I hope I can start sleeping better too. I’ve found that I really have to be careful that I handle stress appropriately while I’m up here — I’m bombarded with it incessantly. Exercising, doing yoga, listening to calming music, reading my scriptures, blogging, and laughing with my friends and roommates have been helping. I just hope I can figure out how to keep myself asleep at night instead of being kept up worrying about what I have to do the next day. I’m really looking forward to studying Anatomy and Physiology too — the human body is an absolutely amazing creation and I can’t wait to learn even more about it. 🙂

  3. OMG your under bed cave reminds me of mine when I was in college!!! I put a toaster oven and a second fridge under there – I had a lot of food parties under my bed! LOL! The best part, I was such a rebel because we weren’t allowed to have toaster ovens in our rooms, but I DID ANYWAYS! LOL!

    1. Oh wow! A toaster oven AND a mini fridge?! That’s like your own mini kitchen under your bed — no wonder all the parties. 😉 This next semester I won’t have this bed (I’ll have a captain bed), but I’ll figure out how to make it work.
