My Birthday Party + SAT!

Hey my Party Chip Cupcakes!!!!

I’m so glad that you guys enjoyed your Mother’s Days as much as I did! I am so grateful for my Mom and for everything she does for me, and really enjoyed talking to you about what your plans were for Mother’s Day!

YOU are cordially invited to my Birthday Party!!!

(I haven’t had my birthday yet, but since I am so busy around my birthday AND after it, I had my party BEFORE)

Let the Party Begin!! 🙂

This is my Birthday Cake! (I hope you like Chocolate! ;))

I absolutely LOVE the flowers!!!! And who doesn’t like Chocolate?!

But, if by chance you aren’t a fan of Chocolate, there are Party Chip Cupcakes!

LOOK!!! SPRINKLES!!! 😀

BUT, what if you’re not a cake-kind of person? Then, you can have some Birthday Cookie Pizza!

How about some Pizza?!

Haha, there was a ton of it! But, there were quite a few Teenage boys that came, and they gobbled it all up!!! Gosh it’s unfair how they eat whatever they want and not gain an ounce! One boy ate an entire pizza!!!! PLUS cupcakes, cake, cookies, AND ice cream!!! A splurge once in a while won’t kill you, but I think a whole pizza is a little overkill!

I forgot to take a picture of the Pizzas Kelsey, Ana, and I made!!!!! We ate them up so fast I didn’t get the chance to get a picture! Basically they were a Multigrain FlatOuts topped with Tomato Sauce and TONS OF VEGGIES! I had mushrooms, artichokes, peppers, onions, olives, tomatoes, squash, and spinach on mine! Kelsey had pretty much the same, minus the mushrooms (I guess she’s not that much into cooked mushrooms. I know she’s crazy. But you’ve got to love her anyways!) And Ana sprinkled some cheese on hers. I can tell you that they were DELICIOUS!

I checked the ingredient list of my cake to see if it had any milk in it (I try to avoid milk because if give me a stomach ache), and yes, milk was near the top. So instead of having cake, we made some Single Lady Cupcakes!

They turned out GREAT! 🙂

I drew some arrows of the ones each of us frosted. Between the two I frosted, I like the one with the Coconut and Almond slices on top the best! The Almond Slices remind me of those cookies you stick into Ice Cream that look like Cinnamon sticks (or what am I thinking? What do they remind you of? I just know it’s a cookie of some type).

Here’s my plate!

The Cupcake was absolutely delightful!!!! We added Dark Cocoa Powder to it and topped it with Katie’s Healthy PB Frosting (which Kelsey made), and it was AMAZING!!! 🙂 I think if I used Cocoa Powder with these again, I would use regular cocoa powder, since using the DARK resulted in a DARK (almost black) shade of cupcake. Delicious nonetheless.

On the side, we each had a Banana Cream Pie (with Pecans), but instead of the nuts at the bottom, the nuts were just mixed in. 🙂 It was the perfect dessert! I may have had another one of those Banana Soft Serve “cups.” 🙂 They were so divine!

AND that’s what we had Food-wise at my party!

On to SAT.

I feel that I did really well. I know I had more Critical Reading Sections than I did the Math and Reading, so I bet one of the CR will be the section that doesn’t count. Math is my strength, followed by Writing, and THEN Critical Reading. How about you? I would rather write the twenty-five minute Essay than the Critical Reading!!!! Well, I like the Critical Reading on the narrative and stories and stuff, but when I have to infer nonfiction, yah, not my forte.

The one thing I was REALLY hoping for was a good Essay Question. I knew that if I felt that I did well on the Essay, it would give me that boost and start the test off well — it would help me through the rest. But I also knew that if I didn’t feel that I did well, the test would seem harder (does that make sense?). I can’t tell you what the question was, but I can tell you that I was able to use My Story as the body of my essay!! 🙂 So, in essence, I wrote an essay I had already written before!

Which do you prefer? Chocolate or Vanilla? Chocolate for me!

What kind of cookie do those almond slices on my cupcake resemble? I know they regularly stick them into ice cream!!!

When you took your SAT/ACT, did you like the Essay Question you got?

Part Two will be coming soon!

xoxox,

  1. Once again happy birthday! All the food on your party look so good and I bet it was a real fun! I also avoid milk products, but probably I would be able to find there something to munch on:)) Great you feel good about SAT. I also love Math and essays were always my favourite at school. My essay question was OK, i think, it was a quote by Albert Einstein and it was really easy to write something.

  2. Happy Birthday!!! So much awesome food, looks like a fantastic birthday celebration!! Good luck with all the SAT stuff! That’s something I’m certainly glad to be done with 🙂

    1. I’m not quite sure if I will be taking the SAT Test again yet. It really depends on my score this time. Though, I’ll probably take the one in June just to do it.

  3. Congrats on the SATs!!!! I really didn’t like my essay question at all…….
I definitely prefer chocolate over vanilla flavored things!!!! hahaha
Your party sounds amazing, and all of the food looks soooo good!

  4. I’m glad you did well! (I’m sure you did amazing!) Where do you want to go to school? The critical reading and grammar/writing(non free response) are my strengths. I don’t think I did as well on this essay as I could have. My brain wasn’t warmed up yet if you know what I mean! 😉 I was careless and didn’t think it through. 😦

And happy birthday! That looks like a ton of fun!

    1. The place I am planning on giong doesn’t even consider the Writing section when they accept students! I hope I did well enough on the Critical Reading. I’m sure you did better than you think. 🙂

      1. What’s funny is that one of the top school’s I’m considering doesn’t even require ACT or SAT scores. But most people submit them anyway and they’re very high – it’s just not the biggest determining factor in acceptance. 🙂

        1. That makes sense. I’m glad thatthe SAT/ACTisn’tthe only thing school look atto decide who to accept. There are some REALLY bright kids that just don’t do well on tests and such, but their knowledge is insurmountable. 🙂

  5. ahh what a fab bday!!! ahhhh both! cnt choose between nilla or chocolate!!… yay for the SAT!! im taking mine later so wish me luck!

  6. HAPpY EARLY BIRTHDAY!!!!your cake/cupcakes/pizza look soo pretty!
i dont remember what my question was but I rmember really liking it. I kinda find te essay useless though because noone counts it as a part of the score

    1. I’ve heard that some schools do count the Essay part, but maybe I’m wrong. 🙂 If they always had GOOD questions, then I’m sure that EVERYONE would get 6’s!!! You know, we should make a protest and insist on always having GOOD questions! 🙂 Thanks Mariah!

  7. Ohmygosh ohmygosh too cool that you and Kelsey got to meet up and eat cupcakes! And lol when she asked me about making the pb frosting, I had no idea it was for a party with you! Lucky girls!

And now I’m going to show my age and tell you that they didn’t even have essay questions on the SAT when I was in high school! (But don’t be jealous; we had a separate test called an SAT 2, just for essays. There was another one for math. Yuck!)

    1. Kelsey actually lives on the other side of town from me, so I get to see her pretty often. 🙂 I’ve actually known her for like 5-6 years now! Your frosting was AMAZING! The Chocolate Cupcake + the PB Frosting was just like a Reese’s PB Cup!! 🙂

  8. Happy Birthday and Congrats on the SATs!! Those cupcakes and the cake look wonderful. I love chocolate but occasionally I crave vanilla cake (but don’t care too much for icing..too sweet). I hope you had a wonderful party!

  9. Happy Early birthday!! All the party food looks so good 🙂
I used to be envious of those people who could eat whatever they want and are still thin, but then I realized that it’s going to be hard for those people later in life when their metabolism slows down. Whereas someone who can’t eat whatever when there young is forced to establish healthy eating habits early on which is awesome. Plus, healthy food makes us feel best!

I took the SAT Saturday too! I hope one of the reading sections doesn’t count as I thought the math was pretty easy but I’m not a very strong reader. I assume we had the same essay question. I’ve been doing lots of practice timed essays to prepare for the AP English Test so I felt pretty well prepared but I didn’t love the question. I took the ACT in April and I really like that essay question. It helps that I got good feedback on my essay.

Wow this is a monster of a comment…May is such a busy month. I totally understand having your birthday party early. When is your actual birthday?

    1. 🙂 Don’t worry, I like to write a lot too!!! One of my last essays was over 1700 words!!! You’re right. It may not show now, but if they don’t change, then it will really effect them. My actual Birthday is this Saturday! 🙂 So my party was like a week early. It seems kind of weird to hear people telling me happy birthday when I haven’t even had it yet.

    2. No way, Ann Claire! I was JUST thinking that the other day! I’m usually pretty envious of those girls who can eat whatever they want without gaining an ounce, but the exact same thing occurred to me: I’m learning NOW the importance of eating healthily to form good habits and maintain my weight. Because of that, I have never been (well, with the exception of ages 9-12) and never will be overweight. People who were spoiled with natural thinness won’t learn that lesson until it wears off and they realize “Oh dang, I’m overweight. Now what do I do about it?” So funny that we came to the same conclusion. 🙂

  10. Happy Birthday!!! So much awesome food! Especially the single lady cupcakes and banana pies.
I could never choose between chocolate and vanilla! It just depends on my mood and cravings, ya know?

  11. WOW I’m lovin’ all the foods here!
Happy happy early birthday to you love!

I prefer vanilla. Always have. But that doesn’t mean i don’t love me some chocolate 😀

  12. Happy 16th birthday! Looks like the party was amazing and I applaud you for eating they way you wanted at the party! I always get self conscious around people who eat so differently than me. But good for you! That desert looked awesome!

I like vanilla better actually! Just something about a nice vanilla bean flavor!

    1. I guess I have gotten used toeating differently. They expect it now. Like if I ate any differently, they’re like, are you ok? 😉 Not many of my friends eat that healthy, but from my example, quite a few of them are eating healthier. 🙂

  13. Math was my forte too! Haha, I wrote about chemistry for my writing question. I can’t remember what the question was, but I know I wrote about chemistry. I’m pretty sure I was studying for my chem final at the time so it was definitely on my mind.
Can I have both chocolate and vanilla? I think the combo of the two is the best! =)

  14. Happy Birthday Kathleen, it looks like you had quite the celebration! All of the desserts look delicious! Mmmmm…

Also, glad to hear that you were confident when you took the SAT. Best of luck! 😀

  15. ahhh happy birthday lovely! Everything is so adorable and pretty an looks delicious!! as for the sat, I honestly dont even remember my topic ( i guess if it wasn’t even memorable it probably wasn’t so great!) but I felt pretty good about my SATs when i took them a while ago and ended up doing well, and I am sure you did too!
    <33

  16. Awwww…. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, girl!! You deserve the BEST birthday EVER!!! 😀 And that amazing looking food looks like it definitely made it possible! 🙂

And I’m glad you felt you did well on the SAT! That’s awesome – I know your rocked it! I’m taking the ACT in one month and one day… my worst area is definitely the reading section. Oh well, practice makes perfect 🙂
